Laura is a Denver-based creative and strategist. At New Denizen she publishes work focused on local chefs, restaurants, and change-makers.
A native New Yorker, I grew up loving the Big Apple. However, almost a decade ago I left NYC to head west to Denver, Colorado where I started this website and the @newdenizen Instagram account as a passion project. My professional experience is in corporate strategy, investment, and nonprofit fundraising.
In my spare time I love discovering exciting new places to eat and I’ve never met a bowl of noodles I didn’t like. Since moving to Colorado I developed a love of the outdoors and I’m a proud graduate of NOLS’s Wind River Wilderness Prime and Wilderness First Aid courses. When I’m not on the hiking trail, I’m getting her om on practicing yoga or deciding on my next big travel adventure. I’ve visited 29 countries across the globe and plans to keep adding more each year. Japan is one of my favorite places in the world to spend time.
Before becoming entrenched in the world of food and restaurants, I founded an award-winning NYC-based music blog called The Modern Age, which you may have read about in Lizzy Goodman’s book and companion documentary, Meet Me in the Bathroom, an oral history of the rebirth of rock ‘n’ roll in New York City between 2001-2011.
