UPDATE: 9/5/19: Call will temporarily close for rennovations for the fall/winter of 2019-2020. Last service will be on Sunday, September 29, 2019 and the restaurant is expected to reopen in the spring of 2020.
We’ve finally made it through the (May) snow and hail, Denver! Time to slip on the shades, bask in the sun, and celebrate patio season getting into full swing.
Call is one of my favorite restaurants in RiNo for brunch (and a recommended stop in my Denver weekend guide for foodies) and I’m stoked that they’ve recently introduced extended hours. This means you can now sip and snack the evening away with their new night menu.
Items available Wednesday through Saturday for the after-work crowd include snacks and small bites like Spiced Nuts, Olives, and a Seasonal Cheese with fruit and toast. The Furi-Cado, a half avacado dusted with furikake seasoning and a squeeze of lime, is a delicious daytime favorite that made the cut to cross over into the nighttime offerings.
Still hankering for some heartier item that will keep you going strong until you’re ready to head home? The Dog is a Scandinavian style long and skinny hot dog spread with a special “dog sauce” and layered with cucumbers, fried shallots, and dill.
If that’s not enough, you can also put in an order of the Potted Chicken, an elevated chicken salad made with confit poultry that is best eaten spread across a crispy slice of bread.
No outdoor drinking session would be complete without some sparkly summertime cocktails, and Call goes subtle and classy with their selection of spritzy and boozy drinks. The fruity Call’s Cup features Pimms, grapefruit liquor, soda, and lime and the Buzz Me goes aperol-forward with prosecco, sparkling water, and orange to top it off. For those looking for something tried and true, you can go with the Land Line, Call’s version of an Old Fashioned.
The new night menu hours are 5-9pm Wed-Thur, 5-10pm Fri-Sat. Happy hour runs 12-3pm Mon-Tues, 3-5pm Wed-Sat and the daytime menu is served Sun-Tues 10am-3pm, Wed-Thurs 10am-3pm, Fri-Sat 10am-3pm.
FYI – Call just doubled their outdoor seating options with the opening of a new back patio that is outfitted with a fire pit and picnic table seating. Be sure to check it out!
