Who doesn’t love a great lobster roll? Growing up on the East Coast before moving to Denver, I fell in love with these simple, yet elegant sandwich many years ago and find it to be the ultimate summertime lunch or dinner.
You would think that living in a land-locked state that lobster rolls would be few and far between, however, a few devoted Denverite lobster roll-fanatic restaurants keep a steady stream of these American seafood staples rolling out of their kitchens all-year long.
If you’re dying to get your hands on a lobster roll and can’t make it to the coast, here’s my list of great places in the Mile High City that can satisfy your lobster roll cravings.
NOTE, as of 21 Aug 2020: Due to the Coronavirus shutdowns and re-openings, this list identifies which restaurants are currently OPEN FOR BUSINESS in some capacity and if they are offering takeout, delivery, outdoor/patio, or dine-in service.
OPEN: Rock N Lobster @ Edgewater Public Market
The spot for hearty rolls with some killer lobster-themed sides
Edgewater/Sloan’s Lake
- Dine-in: Outdoor seating available at Edgewater Public Market‘s Food Hall Wed thru Sat from 12 pm-8 pm and Sun from 12 pm-6 pm
- Takeout: Pre-order online

I first fell in love with Rock N Lobster during their food truck days. I immediately fell for their delicious, hefty lobster rolls that have a great deal of meat (New England- or Connecticut-style, pick your poison) alongside their absolutely killer sides like their ooey-gooey Lobster Mac ‘n’ Cheese. Not much has changed now that they are slinging their wares from the comfort of their permanent shop in Edgewater Public Market, still making great rolls!
OPEN: Maine Shack
The spot for a high-brow lobster roll
LoHi
- Dine-in: Outdoor patio and garden seating available (46 seats). Indoor seating available for reservation only, limited to 6-8 people, call 303-997-2118 to book.
- Takeout: Pre-order online
- Delivery: GrubHub, DoorDash

Opened in 2019 by the team behind Denver faves like Bar Dough and Senior Bear, Maine Shack is a fave with the residents of LoHi. Sure, you may need to save up your milk money before heading to the restaurant ($24 for the Brown Butter Roll), but you get lots of wild-caught Maine lobster served on a nice slightly toasted bun. Other East Coast favorites like New England Clam Chowder are also available. These folks know what they are doing. Expect fast, friendly service even when it’s crowded.
OPEN: Steuben’s Uptown
The spot for when all you want is a lobster roll, but your kids are demanding hamburgers
Uptown
- Dine-in: Outdoor patio seating and limited indoor seating available. Reservations can be made ahead of time.
- Takeout: Pre-order online and pick up at the dedicated pickup counter
- Delivery: Order online

Somewhat hidden on Steuben’s wide menu of American regional classics, squeezed in between the Bodega Breakfast Sandwich and the Grilled Cheese you will find their two market-priced Lobster Roll offerings (Maine or Connecticut). Last time I went it came out to be $28. Each version comes with a side order of perfectly crisped fries.
