There’s a new ice cream spot in town, the recently opened Sherry’s Soda Shoppe in the Five Points neighborhood. I recently stopped by this beautifully designed space and sample one of their many ice cream flavors developed by Milena Nichols, previously of Sweet Cow.
The parlor is the latest from Denver restauranteur Joshua Pollack, owner of New York-nostalgic eateries Lou’s Italian and Famous Original J’s Pizza, and is located next door to sister restaurant Rosenberg’s Bagels.
In terms of the ice cream, expect options that pay homage to classic American flavors like Pistachio, Cookies ‘n’ Cream, Strawberry, as well as transforming favorite sweets and desserts like Lace Cookie and Rum Cake into a frozen creamy form.
Team members don classic soda jerk garb (oblong caps, button-up shirts, and apron), contributing to the nostalgic atmosphere, but also add a very modern twist to their uniforms in the form of custom crimson-colored face masks and gloves in order to comply with the latest safety requirements.
The shop is petite, but guests are required to wear masks inside the shop and patrons are asked to remain 6 ft. apart from one another.
There are a few stools and tables in the space if you prefer to dine-in (and the owl wallpaper is just too cute), but during the warm-weather months, there’s nothing better than being outside with a wonderful ice cream cone in hand!
The store is open Tues – Thurs: 11 am – 9 pm; Fri – Sat: 11 am – 10 pm; Sun: 11 am – 9 pm.
Please note: Financial compensation was not received for this post. I was invited by the PR firm working with Sherry’s Soda Shoppe to sample their offerings. Opinions expressed here are my own.
