Earlier this week, I attended the fifth night of service at Sushi by Scratch Restaurants, Denver’s newest omakase sushi experience. Located in Larimer Square, it’s the 12th US outpost of the popular concept from chef/owners Phillip Frankland Lee and Margarita Kallas-Lee. Their Montecito location earned one Michelin star in 2021 and 2022. Finding the restaurant […]

Don’t let my petite frame fool you — I love to eat. Discovering great new places to eat is one of my favorite things to do. I’ve developed a pretty selective palate, after living in New York City for most of my adult life. It will come as no surprise to anyone that NYC has some of the best food in the entire planet at every price point — to $1 slices of pizza, to food trucks, to fine dining, my hometown has it all.
Now that I live in Denver, I’m so excited to discover the great meals that the great state of Colorado has to offer. I try to keep a no-meat policy, but I do make the occasional exception (usually when it comes to ramen, which always seems to have pork in it). Hopefully a few of my finds will become some of your new favorite places to eat!

The first time I heard of the Japanese ramen chain Ichiran was after the opening of their first US restaurant in Brooklyn, NY in 2016. At the time, New York Magazine published an article provocatively titled, “Is Ichiran New York’s Most Antisocial Restaurant?,” and I immediately wanted to know more. By this time I had […]
Favorite 9 Denver Dishes of 2024
As I reflect on the past year’s meals, curating my list of favorite dishes is always a delight. It’s a chance to revisit the moments of joy, surprise, and comfort I’ve experienced dining out. So, what makes a dish a “favorite”? This year, I’m focusing on those that sparked a sense of wonder or unexpected […]
Denver’s Best New Restaurants of 2024
Here are six Denver restaurants that debuted in 2024 and quickly became my top recommendations for dining out. Like many of you, I’m tired of perfunctory “best of” lists churned out at year’s end to hit content quotas or please algorithms. That said, I put a lot of care into this roundup because I believe […]
It opened for business on Tejon Street at the end of May: a black garage with its door rolled up, revealing five sleek vending machines where a car would normally be. Out front, a freestanding placard with an arrow and the hand-drawn words “Snacks this way” directing customers inside. The machines stand ready, their cool […]
Sometimes, I get DMs asking about great restaurants or recommendations for specific cravings and occasions. I’ve picked some of my recent favorites to share with you. If you have a question of your own, shoot me a DM on Instagram! Salads. Know of any great ones? Oof! Coming into contact with a great salad is […]
Kenny Doan painted a vivid picture of a bustling dinner service at Sắp Sửa, a non-traditional Vietnamese eatery recently celebrated by Bon Appétit as one of 2024’s best new restaurants, and where he works as a cook. Six or seven orders for “gà chiên nước mắm,” or fried chicken with fish sauce, flood in all […]
For the past two years, anyone passing by the northwest corner of Civic Center Park, where West Colfax meets 14th Street, has likely noticed its dramatic transformation. Once the site of a low-slung government office building, now stands Populus, a striking 13-story hotel with a façade reminiscent of the fissured white bark of Colorado’s quaking […]
Have you ever enjoyed dinner and drinks at a historic Colorado gas station? A 40-minute drive from Denver leads you to Johnson’s Station, where the urban landscape gives way to the rolling farmland of Boulder County. As you enter Prospect, a planned New Urbanist community on the southern edge of Longmont, the warm glow of […]
